This book was a good read for my children ages 8 & 9. They liked that she was able to help the homeless. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends & family with children so they can learn selflessness & the safe way to go about it at a young age.
The illustrations are amazing! Bold and bright colors. June's family is so realistic. Throughout the book we see instances of kindness and community awareness, sprinkled with the issue of safety. Definitely a must read for younger children, especially since the most important take away from this book is, "Even a child can help change the world"!
I chose this book first because of the title and secondly because of the character. I am a mother of 5 and love to encourage my children to be all that they can be, work hard and be nice. I deeply instill reading daily. This book was such an amazing story, told perfectly, even in the mist of all good there is a lesson to be taught. The supported family, friends and neighbors gave an ending that made me tear up. I will definitly gets the others books.
It is so difficult as parents to trust the world. Our children of course we want to see grow. Becoming all they dream to be. They truly carry the power to change the world.
This is a great book for children of any age in need of an inspirational message of affecting change in their community and world.Job well done to the creators of this wonderful book! I love the illustrations and the positive loving interactions between June and her family. This book is exactly what is needed to set an example for the kinds of families our world needs more of:loving and supportive of children and their dreams. True story of Umoja-unity!!
My 3 year old loved the story and the message as we recently participated in a very similar event to feed to feed the homeless. I can only the experience and thoughtful books like this solidify the humanity already in here to be that much more resilient to the world and it's many subhuman practices.
Such a cute well writen book. My daughter totally enjoyed reading this book. She said to me mommy I can change the world to thanks Alika you go girl coming from where we did it's ALWAYS amazing and wonderful to see people doing better than what we saw growing up
