I have never truly enjoyed reading until I discovered Robert Lawrence. Seriously I couldn’t put it down. As a college/pilot student, I learned more from reading this book than I have in any class at my university. He gives a detailed look at the pros and cons of being a pilot. It is both informative and humorous. I HIGHLY recommend this book to not just aspiring pilots but to anyone who’s ever been an airline passenger because it will make you appreciate everything they do. I think the most important takeaway from this book is IT’S NEVER THE PILOT’S FAULT!

The author takes you through what it's like being a commercial airline pilot. This is an easy and enjoyable read with dabs of humor along with insights and behind-the-scene views of being a pilot.
I'm avi buff, and I love long descriptions of what it's doing and which aircraft is being flown; what the pilot thinks of each different plane he/she flies.
Being a pilot myself, albeit in a much different field, I was curious about some of the details in the commercial aviation world. This book certainly provided a decent look at an average day in an airline pilot's life. I was perhaps a little more interested/curious in the off duty aspects of the day and left craving a little more on the front and back sides of a shift. However, I really can't fault the author for focusing his book about being a pilot, on the parts of his day that deal with flying. I will more than likely be looking at his other book about the airlines and look forward to the read.
Enjoyed this quick read because it was informative and written with a wry sense of humor.Provides interesting details of what "going to work" means for a commercial airline pilot.
Just remember this is written by a airline pilot who is in his early 50’s so some life choices will be different when traveling or dealing with people. Overall a great read for someone wondering what a typical day of an airline pilot looks like.
